INTRODUCTION
ENJOYABLE SURVIVAL GAME

Welcome to a beginner’s guide on Westland Survival. This game actually adopts the same engine behind many other survival games, but with a few changes to make the mechanics make more sense. Simple as this game might be, there are a couple of things that you need to figure out. So if you are still confused over the basic gameplay and need some early gameplay tips – Read on to find out!

SECTION A
BASIC GAMEPLAY

While the game does walk you through with a short tutorial, you will still have to figure out some things by yourselves. So in this section, we will walk through some of the gameplay basics if you are still confused.

GAME MECHANICS – THE SUMMARY

Westland Survival is a simple game that can pretty much be summed up as:

• Visit locations, hunt mobs, and harvest resources.
• Go back to home base, build, recover, and repair.
• Rinse-and-repeat.

Yep. That’s all.

CHARACTER STATS

The character has 4 stats that you can choose to upgrade as you level up:

• Damage – Additional damage on top of the equipped weapon.
• Attack Speed – Additional attack speed on top of the equipped weapon.
• Defense – Additional defense points on top of equipped armor.
• Spirit – Used to “charm” animals, and turn them into allies, power mob requires higher spirit.

WORLD MAP LOCATIONS

There are various locations that you can visit on the world map, and all of them will offer different available resources, with varying levels of difficulty. In general, you will not want to risk the more difficult places in the early game –

• Places with green markers – Difficulty 1, recommended for beginners.
• Yellow markers – Difficulty 2, recommended after you have some equipment.
• Orange markers – Difficulty 3, only if have good weapons and armor.
• Red markers – Difficulty 4, armed to the teeth. These places drop rare loot.

AVAILABLE BUILDINGS

This is the part that I like about Westland Survival – The buildings are very well organized, and they really make sense.

• Building – Walls, floors, doors, and windows.
• Storage – Where you keep resources in; In other survival games, this will be a mess of generic storage boxes.
• Workshops – Respective workstations to produce various stuff.
• Projects – Build these to unlock certain game features. For example, completing the stable will unlock more locations on the map.
• Furniture – Decorative stuff.

TIPS & TRICKS

Now that we are done with the basic gameplay, here are a couple of tips for the early gameplay.

1) WHAT TO DO FIRST?

Westland Survival starts by throwing you butt-naked in the middle of somewhere, so… what’s next?

• Talk to the guide standing right next to the cart. This will start the beginner’s tutorial, and help you to master the basics.
• After you are done with the short basic tutorials, clear out the entire home base map.
  • Slay all the boars and bunnies for leather and food.
  • Harvest all the materials.
  • Repair the walls and well.
  • But don’t bother to build any additional floors and walls yet – Build the stone storage first.
• Next, you are going to need some “starter materials”.
  • Create a bag to hold more loot.
  • Cook meat and draw water.
  • Cut some wood boards.
  • Create a weapon if you can.

That’s about it for the first few steps. I will recommend heading out to the Pine Forest next to get more wood and food.

2) WHAT TO BUILD FIRST?

This game has quite a lot of buildings to choose from, but for the early game:

• Just concentrate on building all the storage and respective workstations first.
• Expand the size of the house as required.
• Forget the projects in the early game. It is virtually impossible to complete in the early game as they require quite a lot of rare loot that is only dropped in hard stages… Not until you pay to win.
• Furniture – Nah. Don’t bother.

3) BE A SNEAKY [email protected]

Always sneak up on the mob from behind, and that will do 200% damage for the first hit – That will instantly kill the weaker ones when you have a good enough weapon and high attack points. Lesser hits with the weapon result in faster kills and result in the equipment lasting longer.

My early game favorite is the stone knife with decently good attack damage, and it is easy to craft using just rocks and wood. Don’t bother with using the bow though, we cannot do sneak attacks with it.

4) RUN & AVOID IF YOU CAN’T WIN

Take note that if you stay in a location for too long, a random mob will spawn – Either a simple creature, AI player, or badass boss depending on the location difficulty. If you can’t win the fight, run out of the map. On the easy difficulty locations, the random spawn will disappear once you exit and re-enter… But on the difficult places, the spawn will remain and continue to hunt you down.

5) WHICH STATS TO GO FOR?

The character gains skill points upon leveling up. My emma game cheats. Which is the best build? So far, this is what I will recommend:

• Attack – Highly recommended. Sneak up from behind do a whole load of damage.
• Attack Speed – Not quite useful. It does speed up the attack intervals and increases the DPS… But it also means breaking the weapons faster.
• Defense – Kind of useful. But personally, high attack damage is the best defense.
• Spirit – Kind of useful again. Having enough spirit points will allow you to charm plenty of friendly mob.

6) OUT OF PICKS & AXES?

Should you fall into the unfortunate situation of losing all your loot, and don’t have enough resources to craft picks and axes – The only way is to go back to the 1-star difficulty pine forest. Pick up enough loose pieces of wood and rocks lying around… Just avoid combat along the way.

7) LOOT SMART & LOOT QUICK

The sad part about this game is that you cannot collect all the loot in one trip. So loot smart, loot quick. A few of the common tricks that I use are:

• Collect resources, craft more axe/pick on the location as required.
• When the inventory is full, head out to the world map – It is safer to reorganize the inventory in the world map instead, without having to worry about a random spawn mob attacking your character with an open inventory screen.
• Eat the 1 or 2 pieces of food to recover if you must, free up inventory space.
• Weigh your own needs – It is wiser to throw a few seeds away to make room for a whole pile of wood.

8) OTHER MISC STUFF

• A trader will spawn around the home from time-to-time, offering various different deals.
• There are also various merchants, bounties, quests in the nearby town – But don’t bother visiting too early in the game, when you don’t have resources to exchange.
• That’s about it for the early game – Once you have all the storage and workstations built, Westland Survival literally turns into a game of “visit location X to get resource Y for equipment Z”.
